VerificationEngine™ - Simple User Guide
Why is VerificationEngine™ necessary?
VerificationEngine™ was borne from the need to verify web page content. The overriding factor common to all Phishing attacks and Spoof web sites is the inability to verify. VerificationEngine™ allows effective verification of web site content.
What does VerificationEngine™ provide?
Internet Explorer (90-92% of the world use this browser to view the Internet)

It will also protect 3rd party plug in toolbars like the eBay toolbar.
Trusted Browser elements are the browser tool bars, address bar, status bar etc.
Moving the mouse over any these elements causes the border to appear
The green border can be made to appear around the edge of the screen (Or optionally around the
on the task bar.
This function provides a simple and effective test of these toolbar elements.
In some cases spoof sites try to attack users by replacing these tools bars with graphics to fool users into thinking that they are on a legitimate site.
The width of the line and the colour of the line can also be varied from this menu.
Trusted elements will display the same border.
SSL - Extending verification of SSL to High Assurance SSL providers.
The status bar within Internet Explorer indicates a Secure SSL (Secure Socket Layer) link. Internet Explorer allows this status bar to be turned off and therefore replaced with a graphic. It can therefore 'fool' users into thinking that they have a secure SSL session. VerificationEngine protects the padlock and the status bar. The status bar becomes a trusted browser element providing the green border on a mouse over, where as the padlock itself is afforded extra protection, opening a window and verifying a true SSL session is running. Where details of the SSL certificate provider are within the ID Authority database these are also displayed.
An SSL Certificate which is not recorded through the IDAuthority database is displayed like the one shown opposite. Generally it is not a problem, but users are still recommended to double click on the padlock and check the credentials of the web site they are using. The issuer of the certificate may be a low assurance SSL issuer and may not record all the company details within the certificate. (VerificationEngine facilitates user confidence by displaying the high assurance certificates issued and recorded in IDAuthority)
The final two menus are enhancements to the functionality allowing the incorporation of 'audio' into the test.
Or to display a large Verification Engine Icon on the screen as the top most ICON (This cannot be over written by any Window) This allows verification via a green border around the icon to be easily visible on the screen and can be used when it is not possible to see the task bar.
